CHEMIO N.3 - CHEMO N.3

Martedì 28 febbraio dovevo fare la terza chemio e quindi cominciare il secondo ciclo della mia terapia (in un altro post scriverò più informazioni sulla terapia che faccio chiamata ABVD). 

Di solito circa un'ora prima della terapia un'infermiere mi fa il PRELIEVO DEL SANGUE per controllare se ho i valori minimi per procedere con la chemio.

Purtroppo martedì i valori dei miei GLOBULI BIANCHI erano così BASSI (1,7) che non ho potuto fare la terapia.

Non è la prima volta che ho dovuto rimandare la chemio perchè avevo i valori bassi. Per questo dopo la seconda chemio avevo fatto delle iniezioni per 3 giorni con un medicinale che doveva farmi aumentare i globuli bianchi. 

In teoria il medicinale mi avrebbe fatto alzare i globuli bianchi a partire dal decimo giorno dopo la sua somministrazione (per questo nei giorni prima è importante che stia attenta a non frequentare posti affollati per evitare di prendere infezioni visto che le mie difese immunitarie sono estremamente basse).

Nonostante avessi fatto 3 iniezioni dopo la seconda chemio, martedì che dovevo procedere con la terza i globuli bianchi erano ancora bassi e abbiamo dovuto rimandare la terapia a martedì prossimo. Mi hanno somministrato altre 3 iniezioni da fare martedì, mercoledì e giovedì e questa mattina di venerdì avevo l'appuntamento in ospedale per vedere se i valori stavano migliorando.

Fortunatamente questa mattina i globuli erano così alti (16) che abbiamo fatto la chemio oggi senza aspettare martedì prossimo 😁😃. In farmacia hanno subito preparato un cocktail fresco di ABVD ed eccomi qui:

Da un lato ero un pò triste di farla oggi perchè avrei potuto godermi qualche giorno in più senza gli effetti collaterali, ma ovviamente devo essere contenta...prima prendo la "medicina cattiva" prima guarisco 💪.

Last Tuesday 28 February I was supposed to do my third chemo and start the second cycle of the therapy (each cycle consists of 2 chemos, in another post I'll write more info about my therapy called ABVD).

Usually around 1 hour before the chemo the nurse takes my blood to see if it's good enough to bear the therapy.

Unfortunately my white blood cells were again too low (1.7) on Tuesday. Therefore I was not allowed to do the chemo otherwise it can be dangerous.

I was surprised and upset because on Tuesday I felt well, no tired and I had 3 injections after the second chemo with a medicine that should have helped to increase the white cells.
However, from the other side I was glad to postdate the therapy because I had few more days to enjoy without side effects.

The doctor told me to do 3 further injections (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and today Friday I had to do again the blood tests to see if it worked.

If the values were good I was still supposed to move the therapy to next Tuesday but when I did the tests this morning the white cells were so high (16) that doctors allowed me to do the chemo today.

So the pharmacy prepared a fresh ABVD cocktail and I took the "bitter medicine".
